Job Overview
The Learning and Development Manager will lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of comprehensive training programmes that enhance the skills, knowledge, and performance of academic and administrative staff. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, you will collaborate with department heads, faculty members, and external partners to identify learning needs, develop curricula, and deliver blended learning solutions that align with the university’s strategic goals. This role is pivotal in fostering a culture of lifelong learning, supporting accreditation standards, and ensuring that staff remain competitive in a rapidly evolving educational landscape. The successful candidate will also manage the learning management system (LMS), oversee the training budget, and measure the impact of development initiatives through robust analytics.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive training needs analyses across all university departments.
- Design, develop, and deliver in‑person, virtual, and hybrid learning programmes.
- Manage the LMS, ensuring content relevance, accessibility, and user engagement.
- Collaborate with academic leaders to integrate pedagogical best practices into faculty development.
- Oversee the annual learning and development budget and negotiate with external training providers.
- Evaluate programme effectiveness using KPIs, feedback surveys, and performance metrics.
- Lead a small team of instructional designers and trainers, providing mentorship and performance reviews.
- Stay abreast of emerging trends in educational technology and adult learning theory.
Required Skills
- Strong instructional design expertise, preferably with ADDIE or SAM methodologies.
- Proficiency in LMS platforms such as Moodle, Canvas, or Blackboard.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
- Analytical mindset with experience in data‑driven evaluation of training outcomes.
- Project management skills, including budgeting and timeline management.
- Ability to foster collaborative relationships across academic and administrative units.
Education
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Education, Organizational Development, or a related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or relevant professional certifications (e.g., CPLP, ATD) are highly desirable.
Experience
At least five years of progressive experience in learning and development, preferably within higher education or large‑scale corporate environments. Demonstrated success in leading curriculum development projects and managing cross‑functional teams is essential.
Salary
The position offers a competitive salary range of SSP 15,000 to SSP 25,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additional performance‑based incentives may be provided.
