Job Overview
The Data Center Operations Manager will lead the day‑to‑day operations of AWS’s new data center in Bulembu. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, and efficiency of the facility while maintaining compliance with AWS standards and local regulations. This role is critical for delivering high‑performance cloud services to customers in Eswatini and neighboring countries. You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including engineering, security, and customer support, to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily data center operations, including power, cooling, and network infrastructure.
- Implement and monitor AWS operational best practices to achieve 99.99% uptime.
- Lead incident response, root‑cause analysis, and post‑mortem processes.
- Manage a team of technicians, engineers, and support staff, fostering a culture of safety and performance.
- Coordinate with security teams to ensure physical and cyber security compliance.
- Develop and maintain capacity planning models to support growth forecasts.
- Ensure compliance with local environmental and regulatory standards.
- Drive cost‑optimization initiatives through efficient resource utilization.
- Collaborate with AWS regional leadership on strategic planning and reporting.
- Mentor junior staff and support community training programs in cloud technologies.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of data center infrastructure, including power distribution, HVAC, and networking.
- Proficiency with monitoring tools such as CloudWatch, Nagios, or Splunk.
- Experience in incident management and disaster recovery planning.
- Leadership and people‑management capabilities.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Effective communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration.
- Understanding of AWS services and architecture is a plus.

Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline is required. Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, ITIL, or Certified Data Center Professional (CDCP) are highly desirable.
Experience
Minimum of five years managing data center operations or large‑scale IT infrastructure, with at least two years in a supervisory or managerial role. Experience in a cloud services environment or with hyperscale facilities is preferred.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from SSP 150,000 to SSP 250,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses, health benefits, and a retirement savings plan.
