Job Overview

As the Data Center Operations Manager, you will lead the day‑to‑day operations of AWS’s new data center facility in Hlatikulu. You will ensure optimal performance, reliability, and security of the infrastructure while driving continuous improvement initiatives. This role is pivotal for supporting Eswatini’s growing demand for cloud services and aligns with our strategic goal of delivering world‑class technology solutions across Africa. Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of data center operations, including power, cooling, networking, and hardware maintenance.
• Develop and enforce operational policies, SOPs, and compliance standards to meet AWS security and reliability benchmarks.
• Lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers, technicians, and support staff, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
• Monitor performance metrics, conduct capacity planning, and implement scalability solutions.
• Coordinate with regional and global AWS teams to ensure seamless integration of services and rapid incident resolution.
• Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and service level agreements for third‑party providers.
• Drive sustainability initiatives, optimizing energy usage and supporting ESG goals.

Required Skills

• Strong leadership and people‑management abilities.
• Deep knowledge of data center infrastructure, including UPS, PDUs, HVAC, and fire suppression systems.
• Proficiency in monitoring tools, automation scripts, and incident management platforms.
• Excellent problem‑solving and decision‑making skills under pressure.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline is required. Advanced certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, ITIL, or Data Center Certified Associate are highly desirable.

Experience

Minimum of five years managing data center operations or large‑scale IT infrastructure, with at least two years in a supervisory or managerial role. Experience in cloud environments and familiarity with AWS services is a strong advantage.

Salary

SSP 35,000 – 50,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses and comprehensive benefits.
