Job Overview

The Senior Structural Engineer will lead the structural design and analysis of commercial and mixed‑use projects within the Eswatini region. Reporting to the Regional Engineering Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for delivering safe, cost‑effective, and code‑compliant structural solutions while coordinating with architects, MEP engineers, contractors, and client representatives. This role is pivotal in ensuring that all projects meet the highest standards of quality, sustainability, and client satisfaction. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead structural design and analysis for commercial, retail, and mixed‑use projects from concept through construction.
  • Prepare detailed structural calculations, drawings, and specifications in accordance with local codes and international standards.
  • Collaborate closely with architects, MEP engineers, and construction teams to integrate structural systems seamlessly.
  • Conduct site inspections and provide technical support during construction to resolve design issues.
  • Mentor and supervise junior engineers and drafters, ensuring quality control and knowledge transfer.
  • Manage design schedules, budgets, and resource allocation to meet project milestones.
  • Participate in value engineering workshops to optimize material usage and reduce costs.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in structural analysis software such as SAP2000, ETABS, or STAAD.Pro.
  • Strong knowledge of International Building Code (IBC), Eurocode, and Eswatini building regulations.

  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience with BIM (Revit Structure) and collaborative design platforms.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is required. A Master’s degree or professional registration (e.g., Chartered Engineer) is highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.

Experience

Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in structural engineering, with a proven track record of delivering commercial or mixed‑use projects. Experience in the Southern African construction market and familiarity with local construction practices are preferred.

Salary
