Job Overview
This role focuses on conducting geological surveys, analyzing mineral deposits, and optimizing mining operations in Eswatini’s Shiselweni region. The position requires collaboration with engineering teams, environmental scientists, and local stakeholders to ensure compliance with international mining standards and Eswatini’s regulatory framework.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct field surveys to identify and assess mineral deposits
- Analyze geological data using GIS and mapping software
- Prepare technical reports for resource estimation and mine planning
- Collaborate with drilling teams to collect and interpret core samples
- Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations
- Develop strategies for sustainable resource extraction
Required Skills
- Proficiency in geological software (e.g., Surpac, Leapfrog)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Knowledge of Eswatini’s mining legislation
- Experience in open-pit or underground mining operations
- Fluency in English and basic Swati language skills
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Mining Engineering, or a related field. Postgraduate qualifications in mineral resource management are advantageous.
Experience
3-5 years of experience in geological surveying, mineral exploration, or mining operations. Prior experience in Southern Africa is preferred.
Salary
15,000 – 25,000 SSP per month, depending on experience and qualifications.
