Job Overview

The Legal Counsel will provide comprehensive legal support to Deloitte Eswatini’s operations, advising senior management on corporate governance, regulatory compliance, contract negotiations, and risk mitigation. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams, including audit, consulting and tax, to ensure that all business activities align with local laws and international best practices. Key Responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts, service agreements, and partnership documents.
• Provide legal advice on corporate governance, regulatory compliance, data protection and employment law.
• Conduct legal risk assessments for new business initiatives and advise on mitigation strategies.
• Support the compliance function by monitoring changes in Eswatini legislation and advising on necessary policy updates.
• Liaise with external counsel on complex litigation, arbitration and regulatory matters.
• Develop and deliver legal training sessions for internal stakeholders.
• Assist in the preparation of board materials, shareholder communications and corporate filings.
• Maintain a comprehensive legal repository and ensure proper documentation management.

Required Skills

• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in SiSwati is an advantage.
• Ability to interpret complex legislation and translate it into practical business guidance.
• Negotiation skills and the capacity to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
• Proficiency with legal research tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
• High ethical standards and a commitment to confidentiality.

Education

A qualified law degree (LL.B.) from a recognized university and admission to the Eswatini Bar are mandatory. Additional certifications in corporate law, compliance or related fields are highly desirable.

Experience

Minimum of five (5) years of post‑qualification experience in corporate or commercial law, preferably within a professional services firm or a multinational corporation operating in Eswatini.

Salary

The successful candidate will receive a competitive monthly salary ranging from SSP 25,000 to SSP 35,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and annual salary reviews are part of the compensation package.
