Job Overview

The Legal Counsel will provide comprehensive legal advice to internal business units, draft and review contracts, and support corporate governance initiatives. You will act as a trusted advisor on matters related to commercial law, employment law, data protection, and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice and risk assessments on commercial transactions, partnerships and service agreements.
  • Draft, negotiate and review a wide range of contracts, including client engagements, vendor agreements and confidentiality agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with local laws, regulations and PwC internal policies, particularly in areas of data protection and anti‑corruption.
  • Support corporate governance activities, including board meeting preparations, minutes and statutory filings.
  • Collaborate with the HR team on employment law matters, employee contracts, and dispute resolution.
  • Monitor legislative developments and advise business units on potential impacts.
  • Assist in managing external counsel relationships and oversee legal budgets.
  • Participate in internal audits and provide legal input to audit findings.

Required Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in SiSwati is an advantage.
  • Ability to interpret complex legal texts and translate them into practical business guidance.
  • Negotiation skills and experience handling high‑value contracts.
  • Proficiency with legal research tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Team‑oriented mindset with the capacity to work independently under tight deadlines.

Education

A recognized LLB degree from an accredited university and admission to practice law in Eswatini or a comparable jurisdiction. Additional certifications in corporate law or compliance are advantageous.

Experience

Minimum of 3‑5 years of post‑qualification experience in a corporate legal department, law firm or consultancy, preferably with exposure to professional services or financial services environments.

Salary

The annual salary range for this role is SSP 250,000 – 400,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. A performance‑based bonus structure may also be applicable.
