Job Overview
The Cybersecurity Threat Intelligence Analyst will join IBM’s Information Security team to monitor, analyze, and respond to emerging cyber threats targeting IBM’s clients and internal assets in the Southern Africa region. This role involves gathering intelligence from open‑source, commercial, and proprietary feeds, assessing threat relevance, and producing actionable reports that help mitigate risk. Key Responsibilities
- Collect and analyze threat data from multiple sources, including dark web forums, malware repositories, and threat‑sharing communities.
- Produce daily, weekly, and ad‑hoc intelligence reports highlighting relevant threats to IBM’s clients and internal infrastructure.
- Collaborate with incident response teams to provide contextual threat information during security investigations.
- Develop and maintain threat‑intel dashboards and visualizations for senior leadership and client briefings.
- Identify patterns, trends, and emerging tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) used by threat actors.
- Contribute to the enrichment of IBM’s global threat intelligence platforms and knowledge bases.
- Engage with external partners, industry ISACs, and government agencies to share intelligence and stay current on regional threat landscapes.
- Assist in the creation of security awareness materials and briefings for internal staff and client organizations.
Required Skills
- Strong analytical abilities with experience in threat hunting, malware analysis, or cyber‑crime investigations.
- Proficiency with threat intelligence platforms (e.g., IBM X-Force, MISP, ThreatConnect) and SIEM tools.
- Knowledge of networking protocols, operating systems, and common attack vectors.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for report generation and stakeholder engagement.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary security team.
- Familiarity with regional cyber threat trends affecting Southern Africa.
- Certification such as CISSP, CEH, or GCTI is a plus.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline is required. Advanced degrees or specialized certifications are advantageous.
Experience

Salary
