Job Overview
The Tourism Development Coordinator will lead strategic initiatives to enhance Eswatini’s tourism offerings, focusing on sustainable growth, stakeholder collaboration, and market expansion. This role is critical in aligning tourism development with national conservation goals and international best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement tourism development strategies that balance economic growth with environmental sustainability.
- Collaborate with local communities, private sector partners, and international stakeholders to promote Eswatini as a premier tourist destination.
- Conduct market research and trend analysis to identify opportunities for tourism diversification and innovation.
- Oversee the planning and execution of tourism-related events, campaigns, and promotional activities.
- Ensure compliance with national and international tourism regulations and sustainability standards.
- Monitor and report on tourism performance metrics, including visitor numbers, revenue, and environmental impact.
Required Skills
- Proven expertise in tourism planning, project management, and stakeholder engagement.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret market data and tourism trends.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills for working with diverse stakeholders.
- Knowledge of sustainable tourism practices and environmental conservation principles.
- Proficiency in grant writing, budgeting, and reporting for tourism development projects.
- Fluency in English and Swati, with additional language skills an advantage.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism Management, Environmental Studies, Business Administration, or a related field. A postgraduate qualification in Sustainable Tourism or Public Administration is highly desirable.
Experience
3-5 years of experience in tourism development, project management, or a related field. Experience in public sector or non-profit organizations is preferred.
Salary
SSP 8,500 – SSP 12,000 per month, commensurate with experience.
