Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Petroleum Geochemist to join our exploration team in Big Bend. This role is critical to our success in identifying and characterizing hydrocarbon reservoirs. You will be responsible for analyzing chemical compositions of oil, gas, and brine to understand reservoir dynamics and optimize production strategies. Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the drilling team to optimize mud chemistry and prevent formation damage.
• Lead the interpretation of isotopic and molecular biomarker data to differentiate between various hydrocarbon sources.
• Oversee the management of laboratory workflows and ensure the highest quality of analytical data.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior geochemists and laboratory technicians.
• Contribute to the development of exploration strategies based on integrated geochemical and geophysical datasets.

Required Skills

• Expertise in gas chromatography and mass spectrometry (GC-MS) techniques.
• Advanced proficiency in geochemical modeling software and reservoir simulation tools.
• Strong analytical thinking and ability to interpret complex chemical datasets.
• Excellent communication skills for presenting technical findings to non-specialist stakeholders.

Education

A minimum of a Master of Science (MSc) in Geochemistry, Petroleum Engineering, or a closely related Earth Science discipline is required. A PhD in Organic Geochemistry is highly preferred and will be considered an advantage for this senior-level position.

Experience

Candidates must possess a minimum of 7 to 10 years of professional experience in petroleum geochemistry, preferably within an exploration or production environment.
