Job Overview
This role is part of EARDI’s initiative to integrate advanced technologies into smallholder and commercial farming systems across Eswatini. The Precision Agriculture Specialist will lead the development and implementation of data-driven farming strategies, leveraging tools like satellite imagery, IoT sensors, and AI analytics to optimize crop yields and resource efficiency. The position requires collaboration with farmers, agronomists, and technology providers to ensure scalable and sustainable solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement precision agriculture frameworks for crop monitoring and soil health analysis
- Conduct field trials using drones, GPS mapping, and soil moisture sensors to collect actionable data
- Train farmers and extension officers on the use of precision tools and software platforms
- Collaborate with tech partners to customize solutions for Eswatini’s climate and soil conditions
- Prepare technical reports and impact assessments for stakeholders and funding bodies
- Advocate for policy reforms to support the adoption of smart farming technologies
Required Skills
- Proficiency in precision agriculture software (e.g., AgLeader, Trimble)
- Strong analytical skills in interpreting geospatial and environmental data
- Experience with IoT devices and remote sensing technologies
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
- Knowledge of Eswatini’s agricultural policies and challenges
- Fluency in both English and Siswati
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Science, Environmental Technology, or related field

Salary
