Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Digital Forestry and Biodiversity Specialist to join our team in Nkwichi, Eswatini. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing digital solutions to support our conservation efforts, including the use of remote sensing and GIS technologies.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in environmental science, conservation biology, or a related field, as well as experience in digital forestry and biodiversity conservation. They will also have excellent communication and project management skills, and be able to work effectively in a team environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement digital solutions to support conservation efforts, including the use of remote sensing and GIS technologies.
- Conduct fieldwork to collect data on forest health and biodiversity, using a range of techniques including remote sensing and ground-based surveys.
- Work with local communities to develop and implement conservation plans, using digital tools to engage stakeholders and promote sustainable livelihoods.
- Collaborate with other WWF teams to develop and implement conservation strategies, including the use of digital tools to support decision-making.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and local communities.
Required Skills
- Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Conservation Biology, or a related field.
- 5-7 years of experience in digital forestry and biodiversity conservation, including experience in remote sensing and GIS technologies.
- Excellent communication and project management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working with local communities and stakeholders.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or related field.
