Job Overview
The Data Privacy Officer will lead Microsoft’s privacy program in Eswatini, ensuring that all data processing activities comply with local regulations such as the Eswatini Data Protection Act, as well as international standards like GDPR and CCPA. This role will act as the primary liaison between Microsoft’s global privacy team, local business units, and external regulators. The officer will develop policies, conduct impact assessments, and provide guidance to mitigate privacy risks across cloud, AI, and productivity services.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain a comprehensive data privacy framework aligned with Eswatini legislation and Microsoft’s global standards.
- Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) for new products, services, and internal projects.
- Serve as the point of contact for data subjects, handling access, correction, and deletion requests within statutory timelines.
- Collaborate with legal, security, and product teams to embed privacy by design principles throughout the product lifecycle.
- Monitor regulatory developments, advise senior leadership on compliance implications, and update internal policies accordingly.
- Deliver privacy training and awareness programs for employees, partners, and customers.
- Prepare and submit privacy reports to the Eswatini Data Protection Authority and other relevant bodies.
- Manage incident response for privacy breaches, including investigation, remediation, and notification.
Required Skills
- Deep understanding of data protection laws in Eswatini, Southern Africa, and major international frameworks.
- Strong analytical abilities to assess complex data flows and identify privacy risks.
- Excellent communication skills for drafting policies, delivering training, and engaging regulators.
- Proficiency with privacy management tools and Microsoft’s compliance platforms (e.g., Microsoft Purview).
- Ability to work cross‑functionally with technical, legal, and business stakeholders.
- Project management experience, with a track record of delivering compliance initiatives on schedule.
Education
A bachelor’s degree in Law, Information Security, Computer Science, or a related discipline is required. Advanced certifications such as Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E), Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM), or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) are highly desirable.
Experience
Applicants must have a minimum of five years of hands‑on experience in data privacy, compliance, or information security roles, preferably within a multinational technology environment. Prior experience interacting with data protection authorities and conducting DPIAs is essential.
Salary
The position offers a competitive salary range of SSP 45,000 to SSP 70,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and equity incentives may be included as part of Microsoft’s total rewards package.
