Job Overview

The Network Operations Center (NOC) Engineer will play a pivotal role in monitoring, maintaining, and optimizing Vodacom Eswatini’s core network infrastructure. Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor network performance 24/7 using NOC tools, dashboards, and alarms to detect and resolve incidents promptly.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot faults across routers, switches, firewalls, and transmission equipment.
  • Coordinate with field engineers and vendors to implement corrective actions and network upgrades.
  • Maintain detailed incident logs, generate root‑cause analysis reports, and recommend preventive measures.
  • Participate in capacity planning, performance tuning, and network optimization initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with security policies, applying patches and updates as required.
  • Support major network projects, including 5G rollout, by providing technical expertise and testing.
  • Collaborate with service assurance, customer support, and engineering teams to improve overall service quality.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, MPLS, BGP, OSPF, and QoS concepts.
  • Hands‑on experience with Cisco, Juniper, or Huawei routing and switching platforms.
  • Proficiency in network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, Nagios, or PRTG.
  • Ability to interpret network diagrams, logs, and performance metrics.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and a methodical approach to incident resolution.
  • Effective communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (Python, Bash) for automation is a plus.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline is required. Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, or equivalent are highly desirable.
