Job Overview
The Mine Safety Compliance Officer will oversee regulatory adherence, risk mitigation, and safety protocol implementation across mining sites. This role is critical to ensuring Anglo American meets international safety benchmarks while fostering a culture of operational excellence. Candidates will join a dynamic team driving advancements in mining safety and environmental responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of mining operations
- Develop and implement safety protocols aligned with national and international regulations
- Investigate incidents and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence
- Train staff on safety procedures and emergency response protocols
- Collaborate with regulatory bodies to maintain compliance certifications
- Monitor environmental impact and enforce sustainable mining practices
Required Skills
- Expertise in mining safety regulations (Eswatini and international standards)
- Proficiency in risk assessment and hazard identification
- Strong analytical skills for incident root-cause analysis
- Excellent communication for stakeholder engagement
- Technical knowledge of mining equipment and operations
- Leadership experience in safety program management
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or related field. Postgraduate qualifications in Safety Management are advantageous.
Experience
3-5 years in mining safety compliance roles, preferably within hard rock or coal mining operations. Experience with ISO 45001 or similar safety certifications is required.
Salary
SSP 8,000 – 10,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
