• Techniques and strategies in extension education to effectively communicate agricultural innovations to rural communities. • Integrated agricultural entomology and pest management to minimize crop losses and promote ecological balance. • Principles and practices of rural social change to support sustainable development and empower farming communities. • Comprehensive vegetable production management including soil preparation, crop rotation, and pest management. • Advanced plant pathology and disease management approaches for improving crop resilience and yield. • Fundamentals of weed science, post-harvest handling, and crop protection to enhance product quality and storage. • Comprehensive study of cereal and grain legume crop production techniques for optimizing yield and quality. • Applied knowledge in soil chemistry, soil fertility, and soil management to enhance sustainable agricultural practices. • Research methods and experimental designs tailored to agricultural sciences for effective data analysis and project implementation.
Work & Experience
• Led capacity-building initiatives and provided team support for vegetable production and utilization in schools, Neighbourhood Care Points (NCPs) youth and farmers including farmers living with disabilities. • Coordinated safe vegetable production activities, ensuring that they are implemented according to protocols and environmental standards of crop management. • Oversee project materials proper distribution to beneficiaries. • Collaborated with the Pan-African Bean Research Alliance (PABRA) in the development of value chain strategies involving vegetable and legume farmers • Coordinated collaborative partnerships between partner NGOs and development partners to support project activities. • Contributed to proposal development and budgeting efforts securing funding for agricultural projects. • Documented project progress and outcomes through detailed reports and scientific publications to promote best practices in agronomy.
• Attended full research team meetings via Zoom to offer expert advice on regional (SADC) Indigenous vegetables. • Attended online and face-face meetings with project PI (Dr F. Nxumalo) to offer expert advice on region-specific garden design; includes guided site visits of Indigenous vegetable school gardens, home extension garden and school kitchens in Eswatini. • Design circle and school garden technical support: support community co-design circles through facilitated workshops, demos, local sourcing research in Kwazulu Natal, Gauteng and Limpopo, South Africa.
• Provided technical advice and support to women and youth farms as an extension officer, improving crop management and productivity. • Led training programs for youth in high-value crop production, enhancing agricultural entrepreneurship and skills development in crops like peppers, tomatoes, and cucumbers. • Managed farm operations at Riders Ranch Farm, overseeing upkeep, bookkeeping, and coordination of honey sourcing and harvesting from local farmers to ensure operational efficiency.
• Developed and delivered curriculum and lesson plans in agricultural science, integrating practical fieldwork to enhance student understanding of sustainable farming practices. • Coordinated agricultural field trips and laboratory experiments, offering hands-on learning experiences in crop and soil management. • Mentored students on agricultural projects, developing their skills in research, data analysis, and problem-solving for crop production. • Taught mathematics, additional mathematics, science, chemistry, and agriculture to form 3, 4, and 5 students, enhancing their understanding of core concepts
