Job Overview
The Risk Management Analyst will play a pivotal role in identifying, assessing, and mitigating financial and operational risks across Standard Bank’s Eswatini operations. Reporting to the Head of Risk Management, the analyst will collaborate with credit, treasury, and compliance teams to develop risk models, conduct stress testing, and produce insightful risk reports for senior management. Key Responsibilities
- Analyze credit, market, and operational risk data to produce accurate risk assessments.
- Develop and maintain risk models, including Value at Risk (VaR) and stress‑testing frameworks.
- Prepare detailed risk reports and dashboards for senior leadership and regulatory bodies.
- Collaborate with business units to embed risk controls into product development and daily operations.
- Monitor emerging risk trends and recommend proactive mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with the Central Bank of Eswatini’s risk regulations and internal policies.
- Assist in the preparation of the annual risk appetite statement and risk‑adjusted performance metrics.
- Participate in cross‑functional risk committees and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Skills
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with proficiency in statistical software (e.g., SAS, R, Python).
- In‑depth understanding of banking risk concepts, including credit risk, market risk, and operational risk.
- Excellent communication skills to convey complex risk information to non‑technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Attention to detail and strong problem‑solving capabilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel for advanced modeling.
Education
A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as FRM (Financial Risk Manager) or CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.
Experience
The ideal candidate will have 3‑5 years of experience in risk analysis, credit risk assessment, or a similar role within a banking or financial services environment. Experience with regulatory reporting in Eswatini or other African jurisdictions will be viewed favorably.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from SSP 300,000 to SSP 500,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses, health insurance, and a pension scheme.
