Job Overview

The Process Engineer will play a pivotal role in designing, optimizing, and maintaining chemical processes within Sasol’s Piggs Peak facility. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and refine process flow diagrams, mass and energy balances, and simulation models.
• Conduct feasibility studies and techno‑economic analyses for new projects and process upgrades.
• Monitor plant performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with maintenance engineers to design preventive maintenance strategies and troubleshoot process upsets.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards throughout all engineering activities.
• Prepare technical documentation, including standard operating procedures, design specifications, and risk assessments.
• Support commissioning and start‑up activities for new equipment and process units.
• Participate in cross‑functional project teams to deliver projects on time and within budget.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in process simulation software such as Aspen HYSYS or CHEMCAD.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a data‑driven mindset.
• Excellent communication skills for presenting technical information to diverse audiences.
• Knowledge of industry standards, including API, ISO, and local regulatory requirements.
• Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple priorities.
• Familiarity with safety management systems and hazard identification techniques.
• Project management experience, including scheduling and cost control.
• Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required. Advanced degrees or professional certifications (e.g., PE, PMP) are considered an advantage.

Experience

Applicants should have 3‑5 years of hands‑on experience in process engineering within the energy, petrochemical, or related manufacturing sectors. Experience with large‑scale continuous processes and plant optimization is highly valued.

Salary

The position offers a competitive salary range of SSP 30,000 to 45,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additional performance‑based incentives may be provided.
