Job Overview

The Epidemiology Research Analyst will support WHO’s public health surveillance and research programs in Eswatini. You will design, implement, and analyze epidemiological studies focused on communicable and non‑communicable diseases, emerging health threats, and health determinants. Key Responsibilities

• Design and conduct epidemiological studies, surveys, and outbreak investigations in alignment with WHO guidelines.
• Collect, clean, and manage large health datasets using statistical software (e.g., R, STATA, SAS).
• Perform advanced data analyses to identify disease trends, risk factors, and health disparities.
• Prepare technical reports, policy briefs, and scientific manuscripts for dissemination to stakeholders and the global health community.
• Collaborate with the Ministry of Health, local NGOs, and academic partners to ensure data quality and relevance.
• Provide technical assistance and capacity‑building workshops for local health workers on surveillance methods.
• Monitor emerging health threats and contribute to rapid response planning.
• Maintain compliance with ethical standards, data protection regulations, and WHO data governance policies.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in epidemiological methods, study design, and biostatistics.
• Advanced knowledge of statistical analysis tools (R, STATA, SAS, or Python).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for report writing and stakeholder engagement.
• Ability to work independently and as part of multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience with health information systems and GIS mapping is an advantage.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of SiSwati is a plus.

Education

A Master’s degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, Biostatistics, or a related discipline is required. Candidates with a Ph.D. are highly desirable. Relevant certifications (e.g., WHO Epidemiology Training) are considered an asset.

Experience

Applicants should have 2‑4 years of professional experience in epidemiological research, disease surveillance, or public health data analysis. Experience working with governmental health agencies or international NGOs is preferred.

Salary

The position offers a competitive salary range of SSP 150,000 to SSP 250,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Salary is paid monthly and includes statutory benefits as per Eswatini labor law.
