Job Overview
This role involves designing, analyzing, and managing geotechnical projects to ensure safe and efficient mining operations. The position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to assess ground stability, optimize mine designs, and implement risk mitigation strategies. Candidates will leverage advanced engineering software and field data to support AngloGold Ashanti’s mission of responsible resource extraction.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct site investigations and geotechnical risk assessments for mining projects
- Design and oversee slope stability, foundation, and ground support systems
- Utilize geotechnical software (e.g., Rocscience, AutoCAD) for modeling and analysis
- Prepare technical reports and recommendations for mine planning and safety
- Collaborate with environmental teams to ensure compliance with regulatory standards
Required Skills
- Proficiency in geotechnical engineering principles and mining operations
- Experience with rock mechanics, slope design, and ground investigation techniques
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and project management skills
- Valid Eswatini mining safety certification (preferred)
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Geology
- Postgraduate qualification in mining engineering (advantageous)
Experience
- Minimum 3-5 years in geotechnical engineering within the mining sector
- Proven experience in Eswatini or similar geological environments
Salary
SSP 8,000 – SSP 12,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
