Job Overview

The Conservation Officer will play a critical role in implementing Ezemvelo’s conservation strategies, including wildlife monitoring, anti-poaching initiatives, and community outreach programs. This position requires a proactive approach to fieldwork, data collection, and stakeholder collaboration. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to environmental stewardship and a passion for Eswatini’s natural heritage.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct field surveys to monitor wildlife populations and habitat conditions.
• Implement anti-poaching patrols and coordinate with law enforcement agencies.
• Engage local communities in conservation initiatives through educational workshops.
• Collect and analyze ecological data to support research and policy development.
• Prepare reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.

Required Skills

• Proven experience in environmental conservation or wildlife management.
• Strong knowledge of Eswatini’s ecosystems and endangered species.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for community engagement.
• Proficiency in GIS mapping and data analysis tools.
• Ability to work in remote field conditions with minimal supervision.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Biology, or a related field. A Master’s Degree is a distinct advantage.

Experience

3-5 years of experience in conservation, wildlife management, or environmental research. Prior fieldwork in Southern Africa is preferred.

Salary

15,000 – 20,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience.
